This year, the International
Aragon Prize has been given to MIT for its commitment to
research, technological progress, and education, and its
efforts to boost logistics development and enhance economic
growth in Aragon (Spain). MIT has partnered with the Government
of Aragon and the University of Zaragoza to create the Zaragoza
Logistics Center, a research institute in logistics and
supply chain management based in Zaragoza, Spain. Since
2004, faculty and students at both the MIT Center for Transportation
and Logistics and the Zaragoza Logistics Center have worked
together to bring research outcomes to the forefront of
the field.
Every April 23, the Government
of Aragon grants the Aragon Prizes during the celebration
of the Day of Aragon. The Aragon Prizes acknowledge work
in the fields of culture, science, technology, or humanitarian
efforts.
