and Society, will appear on NPR's
Talk of the Nation on Thursday,
July 3, 2008, to talk about his recently
published book, Digital
Apollo: Human and Machine in Spaceflight.
The program airs in Boston on WBUR
(90.9 FM) from 2:00-3:00 p.m.
In addition,
segment two in the Discovery Channel's
upcoming (July
6-11, 2008) 10-part
Space Week 2008 series on "Moon
Machines" is based largely on
Professor Mindell's book. The hour-long
episode, "The Navigation,"
is scheduled to air from 9:00-10:00
p.m. (ET/PT) on July 7, 2008.
In
Digital Apollo, Professor
Mindell examines how human pilots
and
automated systems worked together
to achieve a lunar landing, and
takes a novel look at the relationship
between humans and automated
space systems.
