The
Universidad Anáhuac de Puebla
(UAP), part of a network of nine Catholic
universities in Mexico, the U.S.,
Italy, Spain, Chile, and France, has
joined LAI’s EdNet. EdNet is
a collection of 37 colleges and universities
in the U.S., England, and Mexico that
offers LAI members unmatched lean
educational outreach and training
capabilities.
UAP’s
Engineering School is closely linked
with industry and its industrial engineering
training program includes a strong
focus on TPS and Six Sigma. Humberto
Cortés Medina, Director of
the Engineering School, says, "Today
we are training our second wave of
continuous improvement thinkers. More
than 20 students are working in specific
lean manufacturing and Six Sigma projects
in a diverse spectrum of industries
including automotive, chemical products,
and services companies. We are delighted
to become an EdNet member because
of the enormous opportunities for
collaborating, sharing, and learning."
EdNet
Director Professor Emeritus Earll
Murman is enthusiastic about the growing
interest in EdNet among Mexican educational
institutions. He says, "The Universidad
Anáhuac de Puebla is the third
Mexican university to join EdNet in
the past 12 months, which reflects
the interest in and application of
lean Six Sigma in the region. I can
say from first-hand knowledge after
visiting Monterrey in March that Mexican
universities and industry are serious
about embracing lean Six Sigma. We
look forward to working closely with
all of our Mexican members and are
delighted with this new addition to
the EdNet community."
