Joseph
Coughlin served as keynote at the
Focalyst Executive Forum in New York
City on September 29th. The event,
held at Manhattan's Time Warner Center,
was attended by business leaders from
a wide variety of companies from around
the world including Fortune 500 in
media, fashion, cosmetics, finance,
technology, foods, retail, auto and
other markets. The two day symposium
was sponsored by Focalyst, a joint
venture of AARP Services, Inc. and
the Kantar Group, in collaboration
with Advertising Week 2006. Dr. Coughlin’s
keynote presentation entitled “Disruptive
Demographics: The Convergence of Boomer
Expectations and Technology”
cast a vision of how the convergence
of aging boomer demands will intersect
with technology to create a new business
of old age. Consistent with the conference
objective of offering insight on how
to best target and serve the 42+ market,
Dr. Coughlin's presentation touched
on multiple markets including health,
retail, telecommunications and financial
services. Other keynote speakers included
Jeff Taylor from Monster.com and Eons.com,
Eric Dishman from Intel Corporation,
Dawn Sweeney from AARP Services, Joan
Bassett from JP Morgan Chase, Kristin
Kelly from and Larry Jones from the
boomer-focused network TV Land.
