Supplemental
Funding Opportunity
The
National Science Foundation (NSF) has entered
into a collaboration with the Sandia National
Laboratory (SNL) to enable graduate students
to spend a summer working at the SNL National
Institute for Nano-Engineering (NINE), http://www.sandia.gov/NINE/,
under the supervision of SNL researchers.
In order to facilitate this collaboration,
relevant programs of the the NSF Division
of Civil, Mechanical and Manufacturing Innovation
(CMMI) will provide small supplements to
existing CMMI awards. It is expected that
approximately ten supplements will be made
in the range of $10,000 to $15,000.
To
apply for a supplement, currently funded
PIs are advised to contact their program
officer to discuss appropriateness of their
topic and availability of funds. Some positions
are available only to U.S. citizens, while
others are open to all. Awards will be made
only in response to supplemental proposals
submitted via Fastlane. Each proposal should
include the name and bio of the student
who will work at NINE, a brief description
of the research area in which the student
is currently working and a proposed research
project to be carried out at NINE. Proposals
may be submitted immediately, but should
be received prior to May 1 at the latest.
Funding
decisions will be based on the relevance
of the topic area, the quality of the student
and the availability of funds, and proposal
evaluations will be conducted jointly with
SNL. The SNL contact for this activity is
Regan Stinnett (rwstinn
"at" sandia.gov).
