The Engineering Systems Division, an integrated
interdisciplinary unit established by MIT’s School of Engineering
in 1998, seeks applications for faculty of all ranks and for other
academic positions.
ESD has faculty appointment privileges. Division
faculty will be appointed dually with a department of the School
of Engineering or another MIT department or school.
Applicants will be expected to teach in the division
and be active researchers in the engineering systems area. Senior
faculty applicants should have a proven track record of working
with others to build and help fund effective organizations for
interdisciplinary cooperation and coordination.
ESD’s task is the synthesis of a new discipline
within the engineering framework. Applicants should be interested
in helping create this new vision for engineering education and
research.
