ESD, MIT to Participate in 2005 NSBE Convention

On March 24-26, 2005, MIT will take a major role in the 2005 convention of the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE), to be held in Boston at the Hynes Convention Center. Our theme is "MIT – A Great Place to Study, Teach, Work.”

This ad hoc effort, initiated by ESD, will include 10 units from across the Institute who will partner to exhibit at NSBE’s Career Fair, Graduate School Fair, or College Fair. Participants include:

7:00 - 8:30 am
  Pre-College Initiative (PCI) Kick-off Breakfast
Keynote Speaker -- Karl Reid, Executive Director, SoE Special Programs
10:00 am – 5:00 pm
  “Engineering at MIT is Fun Day”
200 College Track NSBE student members will spend the day here for design workshops with Profs. Alex Slocum, Marty Culpepper, and Steven Leeb; information sessions by Lorelle Espinosa, Admissions Recruitment Director and Deborah Liverman, Careers Office Assistant Director; lunch and a campus tour.

  Grad School 201: Geared toward those who are considering advanced degrees in order to stay within academia. Topics included how to choose appropriate programs and handle the challenges of engineering research and graduate student life.
