Yves Boussemart has successfully defended his dissertation: "Predictive Models of Procedural Human Supervisory Control Behavior." (Chair: M.L. Cummings; Committee: N. Roy, D. Frey)

ESD PhD student Jordan Peck has been awarded New England HIMSS Dvora Brodie Chapter Scholarship from the Health Care Information and Management System Society (HIMSS). Read full press release here.

The d'Arbeloff Fund for Excellence in Education is providing funding for the development and assessment of ESD's new undergrad subject Introduction to Engineering Systems (ESD.00), to be offered for the first time this spring. ESD.00 introduces basic engineering systems concepts in lectures by Professor Joseph Sussman and Dr. Afreen Siddiqi and then breaks the class up into teams to work on projects that exemplify critical contemporary issues. The projects this semester are:
•  The Stroke Care-Chain – Dr. Stan Finkelstein, Abby Horn, Amparo Canaveras and Ken Gotlieb
•  The Urban Water-Energy Nexus: A Case Study of Masdar City – Dr. Afreen Siddiqi, Vivek Sakhrani
•  An Environmental Analysis of High-Speed Rail and Aviation for Intercity Transportation –  Professor Joseph Sussman, Regina Clewlow
•  The Internet: Governance and the “Digital Divide” – Dr. David Clark, Jesse Sowell
The fund supports selected projects designed to enhance and potentially transform the academic and residential experience of MIT's undergraduate students.
