reviewed USDOT strategic research,
development and technology plan

Earlier
this summer, Joseph M. Sussman, JR
East Professor and Professor of Engineering
Systems and Civil and Environmental
Engineering , chaired the Transportation
Research Board (TRB) Committee on
the Review of the U.S. Department
of Transportation (USDOT) Strategic
Plan for Research, Development, and
Technology.
A
report in the form of a letter dated
August 2, 2006, was submitted. It
offers the committee's view of what
a strategic plan could and should
be to help the USDOT in future strategic
planning. In addition, the report
provides advice on potential roles
for the Research and Innovative Technology
Administration (RITA) in developing
and implementing strategic USDOT RD&T
plans in the future.
