Sussman keynotes at LNEC’s 60th anniversary symposium

On June 21, 2007, Joseph Sussman,
JR East Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering
and Engineering Systems, delivered the keynote address at
the 60th anniversary of Portugal’s national civil
engineering lab, Laboratório
Nacional de Engenharia Civil (LNEC). The theme of the
conference, which was held in Lisbon, was “Transportation
for a Sustainable Development.”
The title of Prof. Sussman’s
keynote was “A Regionally-Scaled
Intermodal Transportation System for Portugal: Critical
Design Considerations for Sustainability in a Changing World”
(.ppt 2.7mb).
Major sponsorship of the symposium
was provided by the Ministry of Public Works, Transportation
and Communications.
