Professor
Stuart Madnick
recently won the Best Paper award
at the primary conference for technology-oriented
IT faculty, the Workshop on Information
Technology and Systems (WITS). The
conference, whose theme was "IT
in the Globally Networked Knowledge
Economy," was held in Barcelona,
Spain from December 14-15, 2002.
Professor
Madnick's winning paper, co-authored
with Aykut Firat and Benjamin Grosof,
is entitled "Financial Information
Integration in the Presence of Equational
Ontological Conflicts." A record
number of 174 papers were submitted,
of which only 41 were selected for
presentation (less than 25%). As one
of five finalists for Best Paper,
Professor Madnick's entry was in the
top 3% of those submitted.
