Lean Enterprise Value Foundation, Inc.
Third Annual Student Publication Prize

New Prize Information!
In addition to a $500 award, the prize winner will receive a $500 travel award and free registration to attend the 2008 LAI Annual Conference and the Lean Educator Conference in Boston, MA in April.

The prize of $500 and an engraved memento will be presented during the Lean Advancement Initiative (LAI) annual conference, Lean Enterprise Transformation 2008, in Boston April 22-24, 2008. Winner will present at LAI’s EdNet Lean Educator Conference on April 24-25, 2008. The winner receives an additional $500 travel award and free registration to attend the conferences.

Eligibility

Author: Any student at a college or university in the U.S. There may be co-authors and co-researchers but the entrant must be the principal author.

Paper: Entries may be published or unpublished (journal style) papers or parts of a book or larger paper that has the potential to contribute to enterprise transformation based on the concepts in LAI’s Lean Enterprise Value. If published, the paper should have appeared within the last three calendar years, 2005 through 2007. If unpublished, the significant parts of the paper should have been prepared within the same time period. Reviews and restatements are not eligible. The paper must not exceed 9,000 words and must be written in English.

Entry Process

An electronic version (PDF preferred) of the paper should be emailed to levprize "at" mit.edu by February 25, 2008. The email must be from the principal author, state that the work meets the eligibility criteria, and include contact information and the author’s college or university affiliation.

Selection Process

Lean Enterprise Value Book CoverAuthors of Lean Enterprise Value will select the winning paper based upon the following criteria:

Relevance: Subject shows potential or promise for enabling enterprise transformation in concert with the principles described in the book.

Creativity: Author demonstrates innovation and novelty of insights, analysis, subject, or interpretation.

Quality: The research described is well executed and well written, i.e., careful attention and full attribution to what is known and sound analysis, logic, and conclusions.

Results of the judging will be announced by March 24, 2008.
The winning paper and author will be featured on the LAI's web site, lean.mit.edu.
