About the Speaker:

Franz B. Humer earned a doctorate in law from the University of Innsbruck and an MBA from INSEAD. He assumed the role of Chief Executive Officer of Roche Holding Ltd. In Basel, Switzerland, in 1998 and was named chairman in 2001.

Prior to his current position, Dr. Humer was the general manager for various geographies for the Schering Plough Corporation. From 1981 to 1994, he held numerous positions within Glaxo Holdings plc, including director, where he was responsible for commercial strategy, manufacturing and operations, and chief operating director, where he was responsible for research, development, commercial strategy, business development, manufacturing and all operations excluding the U.S.

Dr. Humer has been a member of the board of directors and the corporate executive committee of Roche Holding Ltd. since 1995. Previous to his appointment to CEO, he served as chief operating officer and head of the Roach global pharmaceuticals division.
