Olivier de Weck

named Associate Editor, Journal of Spacecraft and Rockets

Olivier de Weck, Associate Professor of Aeronautics and Astronautics and Engineering Systems, has been named Associate Editor of the Journal of Spacecraft and Rockets, effective December 4, 2006.

Published bimonthly by the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA), the Journal of Spacecraft and Rockets is devoted to reporting advancements in the science and technology associated with spacecraft and tactical and strategic missile systems. This includes subsystems, applications, missions, environmental interactions, and space sciences.

In addition to this honor, Professor de Weck has received numerous others throughout his career. He was elected Associate Fellow of AIAA on September 19, 2006 and is a recent winner of the Frank E. Perkins award for excellence in graduate advising. He won the best paper award at the 2004 INCOSE Systems Engineering Conference, held the Robert Noyce Career Development Professorship from 2002-2005, won a Carroll L. Wilson Award in 1998 and co-advised the best SDM student thesis in 2005. He has over 100 publications in the area of systems engineering. His research has been funded by GM, NASA, BP, JPL, ArvinMeritor, DARPA/AFRL and the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation. Prof. de Weck is a member of the International Council on Systems Engineering (INCOSE) and the American Society of Engineering Education (ASEE). He served as the General Chair for the 2nd AIAA MDO Specialist Conference in May 2006.
