LFM SDM Web Seminar

Customer Renaissance

By Professor Jonathan L.S. Byrnes
MIT Senior Lecturer, Center for Transportation & Logistics

Abstract:
Today, successful companies are changing the locus of their competitive advantage from product innovation to innovative customer relationships. In leading companies, innovative supply chain partnerships are driving sales increases of 30-40%, even in highly-penetrated customers. Profitability is increasing even more. In this web seminar, Dr. Byrnes explains how to develop and manage these customer operating partnerships.

About the Speaker:
At the CTL, Prof. Byrnes is one of 50 faculty members who are involved in various aspects of transportation at MIT, through participation in courses, research projects, industry affiliate programs, and through interaction with transportation students. Dr. Byrnes has taught both Supply Chain Management and Integrated Account Management, and has directly developed the pioneering vendor managed inventory innovations that initiated this new competitive domain. He has taught at MIT for 17 years, and has advised over 50 leading companies and industry associations. For four years, Jonathan Byrnes (HBS DBA '80) wrote The Bottom Line, a monthly column in the HBS Working Knowledge online magazine that detailed innovative methods for increasing profit from an existing business without costly new initiatives.
