About
Timothy Lee:
Timothy (Tim) E. Lee was appointed
GM North America vice president of
manufacturing on January 1, 2006.
In this position, Lee has responsibility
for GM's North American vehicle assembly
and metal fabricating plants. Lee
is a member of GM's North American
Strategy Board.
Prior
to his current assignment, Lee was
GM Europe vice president of manufacturing,
since June 1, 2002. He was responsible
for all of GM's vehicle manufacturing
and assembly plants in Europe. He
was based in Zurich, Switzerland.
Prior to this appointment, Lee was
executive director of manufacturing
engineering in Warren, Michigan, since
July 2000.
Lee
was born in Lorain, Ohio on February
5, 1951. He received a Bachelor of
Science degree in industrial administration
from General Motors Institute (GMI),
now Kettering University, and a Master
of Science degree in industrial administration
from Purdue University.
Lee
began his career with General Motors
in 1969 as a GMI student working at
the former Fisher Body Division in
Elyria, Ohio. He subsequently worked
at several Fisher Body facilities
in manufacturing, labor relations,
and personnel positions. Between 1988
and 1996, Lee was plant manager at
several GM plants in the U.S.
In
1996, Lee was transferred to Tokyo
to direct product and manufacturing
planning for Isuzu Motors. He was
named vice president of corporate
and product planning and a member
of the board of directors at Isuzu
later that year. After returning from
Asia, he held various senior manufacturing
positions within GM North America.
