AgeLab Symposium on New Approaches to
Simulation and the Older Operator

The 4th Annual STISIM Drive User Group Meeting

Systems Technology Inc. and the MIT AgeLab in collaboration with the USDOT's Region I New England University Transportation Center are pleased to convene a user group meeting October 26 and 27, 2006 entitled New Approaches to Simulation and the Older Operator. The symposium will showcase current research, applications and technical issues in using STISIM Drive to address aspects of older operator performance in commercial motor carrier, transit and passenger vehicle environments. The conference will address a variety of topics that include, but are not limited to:

• Use of simulation to understand health and pharmaceutical impacts on driver performance;
• Simulator sickness and the older driver;
• Techniques and approaches to older operator assessment & evaluation;
• Effectiveness of simulation in older operator education, training and rehabilitation;
• General research, training and assessment applications of STISIM Drive including scenario development and extensions using the Open Module.
