Prof. George Apostolakis Honored for Distinguished Teaching May 3, 2005 George E. Apostolakis, Professor of Nuclear Engineering and of Engineering Systems, has been honored with the Ruth and Joel Spira Award for Distinguished Teaching. First awarded during the 1991-92 academic year, these awards are made possible by a gift from Ruth and Joel S. Spira to acknowledge the tradition of high quality engineering education at MIT. Three awards are made each year to one faculty member in each of three departments: Electrical Engineering & Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering and Nuclear Science & Engineering.
